To art school we go
Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico
Art Design has been at the center of my interest since I was very young. I remember drawing in class and my classmates gathering around to see what I had created. I did have a few competitions when I was just nine or ten years old.
My mother encouraged it and had me and my sisters join summer school at the prestigious Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico.
Let's go to College
Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale
I then joined the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where I learned Drawing, painting in different mediums, sculpting, computer art software, and 3D software like Maya, among many other creative skills learned.
Something missing
Jewelry Making from a Book
After becoming a graphic designer and later a web designer something seemed to still be missing. I picked up a jewelry making book at Barnes and Noble and never looked back.
This is when I learned to create jewelry by myself and work with my hands. Presto, I was missing working with my hands, with materials and tools. To create something that can keep a sentimental value. Something that for some of us marks a moment in our lives. Think of your favorite jewelry piece. Do you remember when you got it? Who gave it to you? You may remember more than that when you think about it. Does it hold an invaluable sentimental value? That is what I want to bring to others. This is why I make good quality jewelry. Jewelry that can withstand time and can be gifted or passed on for generations.
Need to know more
Orange Technical College
I then went to Orange Technical College and studied jewelry making and learned many skills like cutting, shaping, soldering, and polishing. Later I started a small business on Etsy called The Jewelry Shed. I only sold a few things, I was too busy with my Web Design full-time job. But my colleagues at work were some of my best customers.

I want this to be my life
Maitland Art Center
It is now and I decided to take things seriously and make my dream a reality. I enrolled in the Maitland Art Center for Jewelry Classes and learned the skills back to get me started again working with precious metals like sterling silver and gold. I had the best teacher who gave me the skills to take my silversmithing to the next level. I also had great student colleagues I learned from. It has been one of the best learning experiences I have had.
